The Healthy Soils Competition was co-founded by Bev and Calvin in 2022 to encourage young people to explore and understand the importance of healthy soil to our food, landscapes, and environment.
The competition started with just 50 entries in the first year and, four years on, has grown to more than 1,000 entries.
“We love giving students the freedom to explore soil in ways that interest and inspire them, celebrating creativity and different ways of learning along the way,” the co-founders, Bev and Calvin, said.
The competition is run entirely by volunteers, with Calvin generously funding the prizes.
Every student who enters the competition receives a quality certificate recognising their effort and achievement.
This year, more than $9,000 in prizes were awarded to celebrate the incredible work of the students.
At its heart, the competition is about inspiring the next generation to understand, appreciate, and care for the soil that supports us all.
Bev and Calvin extend their appreciation to every student, teacher, parent, and school who has helped the Healthy Soils Competition grow.
