Davis Park $1.5 million grandstand officially open
Stage one of the Davis Park grandstand redevelopment officially opened after years of planning and effort. Former Tigers from football, netball, and hockey gathered on Saturday, April 11, to celebrate the milestone.

Nhill and District Sporting Club president Daniel Colbert and Hindmarsh Shire Council mayor Ron Ismay highlighted the community’s significant fundraising efforts for the project.
Cr Ismay said the redevelopment was more than a new building.
“...it is about community pride, participation and ensuring local clubs have infrastructure that meets modern expectations,” he said.
“Davis Park has long been at the heart of sport and community life in Nhill.
“Generations of players, volunteers, families and supporters have gathered here week after week.”
The grandstand features 147 seats, including an all-abilities accessible ramp and seating areas, a large media room overlooking the oval and a corporate room.
The changerooms feature two large changeroom areas, each with a modern shower room, cubicles and a trainer’s room.
Club legend Steve Graham, who raised thousands of dollars through multiple fundraising initiatives, was honoured by cutting the ribbon to officially open the grandstand.
The $1.5 million project was jointly funded by the Federal Government ($760,000), the Victorian Government ($250,000), Hindmarsh Shire Council ($ 440,000) and Nhill and District Sporting Club ($50,000).
The council acknowledged Onley Holdings, the project builder, for delivering a high‑quality facility despite construction challenges.
“We are proud to officially open the Davis Park Grandstand and Changeroom facility and trust it will serve the Nhill community well for many years to come, continuing to be a place where memories are made, friendships are formed and community spirit thrives,” the mayor said.
